Jürgen Scheffran is professor in geography at Hamburg University, Germany und head of the Research Group Climate Change and Security (CLISEC) in the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN). He held positions at University of Marburg, Technical University of Darmstadt, the University of Illinois and the Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact Research. Research fields include: security risks and conflicts of climate change; energy security and energy landscapes; water-food-land nexus, human migration and rural-urban relations; human-environment interaction and sustainable peace; technology assessment and international security. He is co-chair of the International Network of Engineers and Scientists for Global Responsibility (INES).
