Volker Mauerhofer holds Master degrees in Laws (1989-93), Natural Sciences (1992-99) and Ecological Economics (2002-03) and a Doctorate (1993-98) in Law. Former positions include Attorney-at-Law, Senior Research Fellow & Visiting Professor at United Nations University/Japan, and coordinating Lead Author of the UN-IPBES Global Assessment/Chapter 6. Currently he is an examiner & MSc-theses su-pervisor at the University of Vienna, holding several visiting researcher positions in Japan. Besides be-ing member of different legal professional bodies including IUCN's World Commission on Environmen-tal Law (WCEL), he is also member of the UNESCO-related Austrian Man & Biosphere Committee as well as board member of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS). Editing currently several Special Issues, he is co-/author of over 110 peer-reviewed publications and held more than 130 presentations worldwide. Besides supervising students, he has executed academic and free-lance research over 20 years in more than 55 countries.
