Transportation to and within Budapest

Budapest is conveniently located in the middle of Europe and is easily accessable from all European and many other capitals.

While flying is convenient - and a necessity for those coming from oversees - we encourage you to consider other, more environmentally friendly ways of transportation. The Hungarian train system is connected to most European cities and taking a train from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and other countries in the region can make a good sense.

Budapest has several train stations, all located in the middle of town, within a short ride from major hotels. Budapest airport is outside of the city and can be reached by both public transportation and taxi.

Budapest city centre can be easily discovered on foot or by the efficient public transportation. Daily and weekly season tickets can be bought from vending machines in major stations.

The Budapest Card offering free public transportation and free/discounted visits to several sights can also be a good option to discover the city.
